When I typed “blue clownfish” in the Google search box, I was stunned. There were dozens and dozens upon dozens of photos of blue troutfish, ranging from subtle baby blues to bright ultramarines. These photos were both too real and too good to be true, yet they seemed so real.
There are blue pitbulls and all dogs began as wolves. The idea of a blue clownfish seemed plausible to me, considering all the technological advances and science.
Let’s cut to the chase: Does a blue clownfish exist in the wild?
Let’s see!
Are There Any Blue Clownfish? Do Blue Clownfish Exist?
Google Images has many photos of fake clownfish. They are all painted in different shades of blue, from head to tail. There is no such fish as of right now. Hobbyists and breeders have succeeded in breeding clownfish with hints of blue. In a few years, however, it may not be possible to breed a blue clownfish.
It was a disappointing paragraph, didn’t it?
Let me now get to the bottom of why we believe in blue clownfish. An April Fool’s Day joke, a photoshop contest, and a clip that circulated the internet are just a few of the many reasons.
An April Fool’s Day Prank From 2015
Saltwater Aquarium, an American e-commerce website, posted a captivating photo of a blue clownfish on a popular forum in 2015.
According to reports, the fish was bred with genetically modified lightning marion clownfish and hippotang DNA. The price was $149.99 and only 1 specimen was left. !
It was quickly received by hobbyists. Some people laughed, but others were genuine in their desire to own this mysterious creature.
However, a quick glance at the date proved me wrong. It was published on April 1, 2015.
It was an April Fool joke. It was quite cruel, wasn’t it?
These are the reactions of users when they discovered the truth.
“That’s a great deal!” We hope someone grabs it quickly strong>
“The last I saw one these guys on sale, it was selling for $1500.”
“Now, if only we could find an orange Hippo Tang. But, it’s a cool photo. Hahaha.”
“Take your money!”
They got along very well!
A Photoshop Contest
The second photo that convinced me of blue clownfish was actually a morphed image created for The Blues.
Although I don’t know the origin of Photoshop tricks, this blue fish looked very real. This is a stunning shade of midnight blue!
According to reports, it received 3 stars out of 5 stars. It was rated 3 out of 5 stars. I would give it 4 stars, even though it misled me and played with my emotions. It was dramatic…
Here’s how the photo looks:
Shady Video On YouTube
Here’s what I mean.
If you feel the video is too cryptic, check out Frostbite the Annunaki’s username: Frostbite Ice Indotaurus.
Again, I’m not sure what the uploader did, but the video does look very real.
What I found more troubling was the fact that the uploader claimed he bought the blue clownfish at Tropical Lagoon Pet Store, Maryland, USA.
Naturally, I began to comb through the site, looking through each section and post with a fine-toothed comb. But, I couldn’t find any evidence of a blue clownfish.
You can’t connect the dots
The fish is also known as a shark.
Where Does The Blue Clownfish Exist?
It is a terrible thing to tell you that blue clownfish currently only exists in Tap Tap Fish: Abyssrium, a mobile game.
It’s a relaxing and stress-relieving game, which I have not yet tried.
This is how the fish looks:
Blue clownfish, which are listed as the third species on the Saltwater Tank’s Normal Fish tab, and the first hidden fish on the list in the game, are both the third and fourth species.
The blue clownfish is counted towards the Clownfish total. This will allow you to unlock the next gobies!
All of this sounds very interesting. This game sounds interesting to me.
Remember that I mentioned there were a few specimens in the trade with hints or blue in different parts?
Let’s find out what it is all about.
Moving Closer To Creating A Blue Clownfish
The process of breeding a true blue clownfish can be compared to egg-laying in moonshine. Breeders are slowly, but surely getting closer to developing domesticated breeds that have more blue.
Remember, at least one species of clownfish has a fair amount of blue in its bars: the blue stripe clownfish.
It’s possible to selectively breed for this pigment in a variety of clownfish species.
This beautiful clownfish has a lot of blue in its body.
Credit for the image goes to Nattawut Chotsuwan, a Thai aquarist.
The blue coloration is strongest where the white bars have been outlined in black, as you can see from the image.
As shown in the picture below, some of ORA Farm’s black-snow clownfish come with high levels of blue color.
Black And Blue Clownfish
It will likely take many generations before we see a true blue clownfish strain. There are more stars than wishes…
Blue Clownfish Photos And Testimonials From Hobbyists
Do not set unrealistic expectations. This is not a breed that will be all-blue. Hobbyists can breed clownfish with more than a hint of blue from time to time, as I mentioned before.
Take a look at some pictures I took from various threads.
Designer clowns are not new to blue shades, especially snowflakes and snowonyx. It’s not considered to be a deformity strong>
“My Picasso clown has beautiful neon blue accent. It’s very cool. It would be amazing to see this color prominent .”
“Every single snowflake-clowfish I have owned (I think 6 now) has had a little bit of blue where the white meets the black.”
“My ultra-phantom clownfish has quite a lot of blue.” It is normal ?”
I paid for a large tomato clownfish with a pretty blue stripe.
As I was researching for this blog, a Redditor explained to me why we might not see a true blue clownfish any time soon.
It’s unfortunate, I know. But it is what it really is.
Why Don’t We Have A True Blue Clownfish Yet?
If a fish doesn’t have the genetic material for blue, it is impossible to create the color. Nearly all the “blues” found in fish are structural colors.
In clownfish, the blue shade is achieved by layering nacreous (pearlescent-reflective) skin layers over a black pigmented base. The blue light reflected back is the blue light. Everything else is absorbed into black.
The only place that clowns can ever express their blues is in those complex structures that have developed – mainly along black margins of reflective white bars.
Common pigments found in clown’s orange regions include red, yellow, and black. Nature can easily select those pigments.
Sincerely, I don’t think I understand the explanation of exothermos, a fellow Redditor. Let me know if you understand the explanation in the comments!
According to my understanding, breeding true blue clownfishes will remain a wishful thought for many years.
